Four books by author Ray Keating are featured in this brief review.

Subversion is the latest An Alliance of Saint Michael Novel. Packed with transatlantic action following the murder of a priest on Long Island, New York, Subversion requires little time to orient yourself to the narrative except possibly the previous novel, Cathedral. It stands well on its own with narrative-supplied character introductions and believable resistance to Nazi infiltrations of the art world, business, and the church.

Back in 2012 for the original edition of this third Pastor Stephen Grant Novel I wrote:
Ray Keating has a knack for writing on topics that could be pulled from tomorrow's headlines. An atheist mayor-elect of NYC? I could envision that. Pastor Grant taking out a terrorist? I could see that. My favorite part was the NYPD reaction to Pastor Grant's expert use of his tactical knife (88). I appreciated how the author also worked in a more appropriate ecumenism, Christian education, and one of my favorite devotionals, For All the Saints.
Should the Atlantic District and the Wyoming District ever have a joint Pastoral Conference, it would be a great joy to meet Pastor Grant and Pastor Corwin. Perhaps we could have some adventures together in Wyoming and/or New York. In the meantime, enjoy both sets of novels, brother LCMS Pastors!

Since 2012, Wyoming District Pastors met in New York (Spring 2014) with Atlantic District Pastors and Atlantic District Pastors came to Cheyenne (Fall 2015). Can you find Pastor Grant in the photo from our afternoon at the shooting range?

Ray Keating provides a new author introduction for this Second Edition reflecting on his goal of sharing a message without overpowering the story. His theory and intent succeeds in practice. An Advent for Religious Liberty, Second Edition is recommended!

Modern "Disney" is a far cry from Disney under the direction of Walt himself. Keating's 10 Points from Walt Disney on Entrepreneurship would provide great advice for modern leaders of Disney to learn from. Pages 62-63 provide an excellent summary and review of a very pleasant-reading book. The point that most stood out to me was "Third, some people just see better ways of doing things, for example, through experience" (16). Experience is a great teacher. So is the failure of a business or the loss of an idea. Disney's company did finally get back Oswald the Rabbit, but we wouldn't have Mickey Mouse without the earlier character's loss.

Finally, The Weekly Economist III: gives us readers 52 More Quick Reads to Help You Think Like an Economist. Week 33 focuses on Free Trade vs. Protectionism and Week 43 teaches Federal Reserve Basics and Beyond. Both are essential reading in the new Trump Administration. Don't miss this line on 170: "the incentives at work in government are not conducive to productive outcomes."
